2018 Beautification Awards

The City of Madison Beautification and Tree Board (MBTB) will now be accepting Applications for Beautification Award Judging.  All Madison City Properties should exemplify the beauty of our community by showing prideful effort through their landscape to have an overall inviting curb appeal through colorful, healthy annuals and perennials.

Board Vice President for Beautification, Amber Braman leads this year's Beautification Award program. The Board will continue using the revised 2017 Judging Criteria for 2018. Braman, "we are very excited to announce a new award for best in show to honor a property who has shown outstanding effort in beautifying Madison City." This property will be selected by the Madison Beatification Tree Board. All other awards are judged by Certified Master Gardener Volunteers. 

Passing scores range from 95-100 points. Honor Roll recipients are properties receiving a 95 or better for five consecutive years.  A Failing score is 94 or fewer points. All properties should read the updated standards and evaluate how to best plan for their replacement spring plantings.

Any weeds, diseased, or dead plants should removed prior to the day of judging. Points deducted will be full points and not partial.

Excellence scoring is achieved by having ‘yes’ answered to all of the conditions itemized in the standards which will reward a perfect score of 100.

Applicants may find our nomination form at the Madison City website. Deadline for application submission is May 10th. Application fee is $25. All applications and fees must be postmarked by May 10th to be eligible for judging.

The scheduled date for property judging is set for May 24th, rain or shine.

Following the judging, the Madison Beautification and Tree Board will host the 2018 Awards Banquet for properties scoring 95 or better on the 21^st of June at the Best Western on Madison Blvd.  Winning applicants will be notified by Email and should respond with RSVP to attend Luncheon by June 14^th.
